BuckDNS Terms of Use — version 2026-10-04

Buck Skeeters grants you permission to install and use BuckDNS at no charge for personal or business use. BuckDNS is proprietary software; this permission does not grant access to its source code or permission to redistribute, modify, sublicense or sell the software, except where applicable law permits it. Separately licensed components retain their own license terms and notices.

Setup requires acceptance of these terms and the BuckDNS Privacy Notice. Selecting Agree records acceptance on this installation. Selecting Decline cancels setup and leaves DNS unavailable until acceptance.

Installation check-ins are optional and disabled by default. You can enable or disable them in Settings → Privacy Controls independently of update checks. Automatic update checks are enabled by default and can be disabled in Settings → Updates. Manual update checks remain available. Turning automatic update traffic off also disables check-ins and prevents every automatic request to the BuckDNS update and installation-reporting service. Turning it back on does not re-enable check-ins. DNS operation does not depend on either setting.

Updates require administrator action; notifications do not authorize unattended installation or restart. DNS resolution, configured list subscriptions, cluster communication and manually requested downloads remain separate network operations with their own settings.

You are responsible for administering your network, checking changes, maintaining backups and installing updates. BuckDNS is provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted service, complete filtering or suitability for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or obligations that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

Material changes to these terms will be presented for acceptance in a later software release. Contact: [email protected]
