Run your DNS server on Linux or Windows.

BuckDNS provides free DNS software for personal and business use, with installation instructions for both platforms.

Choose the supported installer

The download page provides the current Linux Debian package and Windows installer, with separate numbered instructions. Review those instructions for runtime, platform and installation requirements.

Use the published release-service links so package selection and verification stay consistent. Select the package for your operating system and follow its platform-specific installation steps.

Connect the network to the server

After installation, configure your router or client devices to use BuckDNS for DNS. An installed service cannot filter requests sent to a different resolver. Check the administration address and local network reachability before changing client settings.

Keep administrative access private to trusted networks. A local DNS deployment does not require publishing the administration interface to the internet.

Review operation and data handling

Use query reporting, cache controls, zones and supported resolution modes from the console. Paired servers can improve availability when both addresses are configured on clients.

Read the terms and privacy notice, including required installation reporting. Product availability on a platform is separate from measured capacity on a particular machine.
